Question : Problem: Do I need to replace my hard drive?

I have a Dual 1.8 Ghz PowerPC G5 running 10.5 and it constantly crashed my Adobe CS2.

We tried upgrading to the newest OS, adding more RAM and reinstalling the Adobe software, but still, all of our Adobe CS2 apps crash almost daily. We wanted to try reformatting and reinstalling the OS from scratch, but we cant because it will not start from the CD.

We also tried running disk utility and when we say "repair disk" it says invalid volume file count and invalid volume directory count. the volume needs to be repaired. error file system verify or repair failed?

So at this point, I don't know what to do. Should we replace the hard drive?Or is there a utility that I can use?

Answer : Problem: Do I need to replace my hard drive?

Whoops, all this was assuming the smart status was ok.  This is now a hook up your good Mac to the failing Mac using FireWire target mode and get all of your data of it. Then replace drive, it is ready to go all toasty.
