Question : Problem: Firewire/i.link
|
|
I have installed an IEEE 1394 port on my machine and cannot tell if it is working. The reason that I say this is because I have tried connecting and downloading video from my camcorder using a firewire and i.link cable. I cannot figure out what the problem is, but my video program is not detecting the video unless I connect the camera via USB. This type of connection is unacceptable because of the poor video quality. How can I get my camera connected up to the firewire/i.link? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

you could try Sony support...I wouldn't hold my breath, though! :)
another suggestion, which I considered for myself, was buying a similar camera on ebay, just to use the firewire port for transfer..but then you have no guarantees, either. You could go to a local repair shop, the rates might be better, or worth it to you. I wound up getting a new camera. Plugging it in and hearing "doo-dl" was music to my ears after all that troubleshooting!
Sony might help...it's worth a try!
Best of luck.
