Question : Problem: Client = No, even though inventory is returning data

I have having an issue on a site whereby the site server is reporting that a number of machines are assigned but no client is installed. When I connect to the machines in question the SMS logs show that the agent is connecting and downloading policies.

I have used SMS Client Center to force an full hardware inventory on one of the machines. I can see from the InventoryAgent.log that the process is completed successfully. I then look at the dataldr.log on the server and can see that the full resync in the database takes place.

When I look back at the console however the client still remains as Client=No, Assigned=Yes

Any ideas?

Answer : Problem: Client = No, even though inventory is returning data

Try this:

Delete the record on the server

Remove the client on the PC

Delete C:\windows\smscfg.ini from the PC

Run ccmdelcert from the SMS Toolkit (available at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sms/bb676787.aspx) on PC

Reinstall client on PC

This should create a new GUID for the PC and a new record on the server.
