Question : Problem: Dell Sata Controller does not show Sata drives in Windows

I recently got hold of a Dell Cerc Sata 1.5/6 ch Raid Controller. I also managed to get a driver for Windows XP for it. I installed it on my computer. In the bios the two sata drives are discernable the adaptor is also discernable in Windows but the two sata drives are not. I then also made an array but stil the drives are not discernable. The sata drives should be shown otherwise the whole purpose of installing them on the card would be defeated.

Answer : Problem: Dell Sata Controller does not show Sata drives in Windows

Open the computer management tab:
Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer management

Once inside, open the disk management utility. Check to make sure you disks can be viewed, if they are, initialize them by right clicking on the drive name. Once initialized, add a partition and format it. Now the drive will be accessible using windows.
