What is the qualitative difference between playing back a DVD on a PC versus playing it back on a dedicated home DVD player?

There is equipment that will play DVD-A: the Audigy2 http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/pro/messages/7245.html

The M-Audio Delta 410 will output discrete 5.1 analog audio to amplifiers from WMVHD discs that are coming out.  I don't think regular software dvd players or audio players will do this for movies or music discs that have DD5.1 or DTS.  I think it's a good value for what it's capable of.
