Question : Problem: How to use Barcode Scanner to scan MAC Address barcodes?

My company has just purchased a Metrologic Eclipse USB Barcode Scanner model: MS5145.

We purchased this scanner with the intention of using it to scan the MAC Address barcodes off of POLYCOM IP phones, which are being integrated into our phone system.

What I need to know is how do I set up this scanner to read the barcodes off of the POLYCOM boxes and translate them into the mac address's for the phones and post the data into the CSV sheet I've created.

Keep in mind, I have not even plugged the scanner into a pc at this point; it is fresh out of it's box.

There are various bar code standards out there, you'll need to ask Polycom which one they use, and then Metrologic how to set the scanner to that format.

Can your supplier give you a list of the MACs on the phones that they ship to you?
