Question : Problem: New System, no signal from Nvidia GeForce 7600gt

I am building a completely new system.  I have an Analog Lcd monitor and an Nvidia GeForce 7600GT dual dvi.  The graphics card comes with a dvi-analog adaptor, but when I turn on the computer I get no signal from my monitor.  Does anyone know whether there is something else I need to do?
my computer loads up fine, as far as I can tell by the beeps, but can't know for sure until i get a signal on my monitor.

it's also more than possible that the screen is dead
ideally try another monitor too. does the screen ever come out of power saving mode (eg orange LED switches to green) ?
