Question : Problem: Clone / Image / Ghost Drive - Instructions and ideas

Hello,
I am about to bring my laptop in to be serviced. I am afraid that something will happen during this time its away from home and everything will be lost. I have never ghosted or imaged a hard drive. I'd like to ghost my drive to an external hard drive. Ideally I'd like to use free software to do this. Are there any hints, tips or suggestions out there for me?

Thanks,
JE

Answer : Problem: Clone / Image / Ghost Drive - Instructions and ideas

The easiest way to do what your after is to use something like DriveImage XML.

You just tell it exactly what drive you want to copy, click next, next, next and wait.
You also have the option to compress the image.
When its done just save the the created files on a CD, DVD, network drive or USB key.

If you need to restore the image just install the program and click restore and load it up.

Its fast, efficient, small (1.5mb) widely used and respected and best of all FREE.
Let us know what you choose.
