The easiest way to do what your after is to use something like DriveImage XML.
You just tell it exactly what drive you want to copy, click next, next, next and wait.
You also have the option to compress the image.
When its done just save the the created files on a CD, DVD, network drive or USB key.
If you need to restore the image just install the program and click restore and load it up.
Its fast, efficient, small (1.5mb) widely used and respected and best of all FREE.
