Question : Problem: Upgraded Ram on server
I upgraded the ram on a IBM X206 server, was planning to move from 1 to 4 gig's of ram. The motherboard had been just replaced about 3 months before hand so I thought the bios should be up to date.
I figured an easy procedure 10 to 15 mins in and out, I put the new ram in booted the server, the bios detected the new ram saved the bios settings rebooted.
Then I got this error message "NTLDR is missing" I have seen this messages when HD's get corrupted but I never seen it when you just change out hardware.
Now I'm thinking I should go through IBM site and find the newest flash and try it again. I'm not in a jam as I put the old ram in and the server booted up fine.
But I'm wondering what could have caused this to happen"? or has anyone else encountered this issue with Kingston Ram in an IBM server?
I was told that IBM ram should be used but the Kingston should work just fine....
I also looked up the max size of ram for this server and it shows that its capable of 4 gigs.
thanks in advance...
