Question : Problem: Can PC 3200 Ram be used in a desktop that uses PC 2100 / PC 2700
|

I have an HP desktop computer running XP Home. It has two sticks of ram---each 512 MB. The ram it takes is either PC2100 or PC 2700. I want to increase the ram by buying a stick of 1 GB and install the 1 GB along with a stick of the 512 MG for a total of 1.5 GB. A local store has 1 GB ram sticks on sale but they are PC 3200. The question is ----can the PC 3200 ram be used and work properly in my desktop? Thanks!

Yes, but with one caveat. Depends on your BIOS. As long as the type is the same (DDR, SDRAM), it should just run at speed your motherboard supports. Just keep your receipt, you can always take it back. No damage will be done to your system if it doesn't work.
