Question : Problem: Inspiron 8100 - LCD screen is very dim or black
This is an Inspiron 8100 with XP Home. The system will boot OK and the Windows Logo will display for a few seconds and then the whole screen goes dark or very, very dim. I think I can see some of the images but I am not entirely sure. The system displays its images OK on an external monitor. Therefore, I don't think this is a video card problem and is more than likely a back light bulb problem or an inverter issue. If it is a back light problem, how would I know for sure and is it something I can easily replace?

CRT is would do the trick and will save you any future costs on repair.. Generally it does work. If you did go in a attempted to fix the problem.. you could also break it further and cause more damage than good. donate as is..
