im trying to upgrade my Presicion 390 from 4GB of ram to 6.5GB. Here's the problem: it doesnt fit!
The 4 sticks installed are pc2-5300 ECC. i bought dell certified because it was the cheapest i could find and it doesnt fit. ive tried other sticks of ps2-5300, both ecc and non-ecc and they dont fit. if i align the slots of the memory installed against the other memory, the installed memory's notch is a little off.
This machine has 4 onboard dimms for memory with 2 daughter cards. Each daughter card occupies 2 of the onboard dimms and has 4 dimms on it. the installed memory is kingston.
short of buying the exact memory that is installed which already fits, i dont know what to do. ive called dell and they are confused. im stumped. any ideas?
