Question : Problem: Wireless laptop access on the road
|
|
I have a wireless laptop, but I have to find a "free" place to access Internet. What I want is to have a full access on the road. It will cost, but that is what I need to have. Any suggestions on how and where to get the wireless access service? It seems Verizon has some packages for it. What should I get? Do any other carriers offer the service? I am in the East Coast near D.C.

any cell phone company will have what's called an Air Card. it will give you wireless access anywhere you get cell phone reception. the speed is slower than traditional wireless, but it's the only option to getting "universal" internet access.
verizon has Air Cards. i believe their plans run about $80/month, and there may be a limit on the amount of time or bandwidth you get (not sure if it's unlimited or not). but verizon's competitors also offer the same type of service.
if you currently have a cell phone, i would start with that company. they may be able to get you a bundle discount for having both cell phone service and an Air Card with them
