Question : Problem: sony vaio vgn-sz300 laptop has no internet port or phone jack

I just bought one from Fry's today, refurbished, for 1399$.
A couple of questions have come up for me, pardon my ignorance!!
a) it says to connect a phone line so that it can make a phone call as part of the set up, but I can't find a phone jack nor an internet Cat5 jack to use on the machine.  Does it have either?
b) No discs came with the computer.  it's running XP.  Shouldn't all new computers come with Restore discs?
c) it's refurbished...is there anything I should be aware of  to check out?

Look at all the apps installed and start them.
