Question : Problem: reformating a hard drive

I need basic instructions ro reformat my IDE 2.5 hard drive and seting up the machine afterwards with my Win95 CD?

Answer : Problem: reformating a hard drive

What you'll want to do first is create a startup disk. In windows 95, go to start\settings\control panel. From there, double click on add\remove programs. Click on the startup disk tab at the top. Put in a blank, formatted floppy disk and hit create. Once that's done, reboot with the disk in there. It should come up to an a:> prompt. Make sure you can access your cd-rom drive (if your drive is D, type d: amd hit enter). once you get there, put in your win95 disk and type DIR and hit enter. Make sure you can read from the disk, and then type a: and hit enter. From there, type FORMAT C: and hit enter. It will ask if you want to, say yes to it and it will format your drive. When that's done, go back to your CD-Rom drive, and type in setup d:\admin\reskit\samples\scripts\automate.inf and hit enter. That will set up windows 95 cleanly. Any questions, just let me know!
