Question : Problem: Amplifying MPEG Layer 3 Files
|

Anyone know of a good program(preferably free) for amplifying MP3 files? Some of the MP3's I created from some of my CD's much quieter than the rest.

I use Creative Labs "Wave Studio" to make my wavs. It has the "amplify" feature that you are talking about. Something that I have experienced was that the MP3's that I have made with MP3 PRODUCER sound much better (louder/not muffled)than with MP3 COMPRESSOR that I used to use. Obviously the setting that you would use equal or better 128bit/44khz standard. Also, I have noticed on some sounds cards that the microphone (even though muted by software) can influence that sound when recording; therfore I simply disconnect the microphone. Lastly, WinAmp will let you save "preset setting" for the equalizer that can be loaded depending what MP3 you are playing. This too will change the loudness of the MP3. Good Luck!
