Question : Problem: Output audio - 2 soundcards or multi-channel card?: Ipod to one, All other audio to another
|

I have a client that wants to send his Ipod audio output to one set of speakers and all his other audio to another and be able to switch between the 2 at will (i.e., be able to listen to his Ipod through a set of basic speakers and then turn the Ipod output off and enable his high-end stereo speakers. What options are available? Does he need 2 soundcards? Or are there cards that enable you to send audio to 2 different sets of speakers? Note: As far as I know, he does not need the ability to have both audio outs operating at the same time (ie, song A playing on speaker set A and song B playing on speaker set B - at the same time). He just needs to be able to switch between outputs at will. Ideas?

Yeah you can definitely switch between both even if they are connected to the line in and microphone ports, using windows volume control manager, you can mute the inputs which you don't require....
