Are you using Presicion Scan? If so I may be able to help you. There are several things that need to be set-up to get decent results, but there is not much sense going into them till I know your setup.
HP's PrecisionScan has an OCR program that is part of it, but I am not sure if your scanner came with this or a seperate OCR program that you have to send the scan to for conversion.
In general most scanners come with an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program that "reads" the scanned image and generates a text or, word processor file, Many OCR programs actually try to decipher the font, font size, bold, italic, etc and do a pretty good job at it.
Once you have scanned and done OCR on the scan, you will be able to edit the file in MS Word just like any other document. (You will probably have to correct some minor spelling problems, as most of the time there are a few things that the program reads as the wrong character.
Let me know what programs you have that came with your scanner, and we will get you going.
