Question : Problem: Recommendation whether to upgrade the SoundMax SupremeFX riser card for a nice PCI audio card?

My ASUS P5n32-sli plus mobo uses the Soundmax SupremeFX riser card (not a pci).
It sounds good, but has few options including no equalizer/DFX booster, etc.

My question is:
would installing the Creative ExtremeMusic PCI card provide the improvement so that I would
notice the difference.

I'm not that familiar with the riser card, it is 1/2 the hardware of a PCI card, but it is better than
the onboard mobo audio.

What's your experience on this & recommendation.
I can buy the new PCI card at 50% discount if I buy soon.

Thanks,
Jim

No, I fully understand the concept of the riser, and yes, it may be advantagous in some ways over onboard.  However, it not only still relies on chips on the mobo to process, it also takes up one of your PCI slots and associated resources. :)
