Question : Problem: Wireless Authentication equivalent to Windows' "authenticate as computer" on Macintosh

I am trying to figure out how to accomplish the equivalent of the "authenticate as computer" setting in Windows on a Macintosh.

We are in an Active Directory environment. The Windows laptops authenticate as computers to our wireless network (Cisco AP's model # 1131 , our wireless network is configured to use WPA (Enterprise) with Authentication type PEAP and Encryption type TKIP.)  -- I CANNOT make changes to the configuration of the wireless network as a work-around. The Macs need to operate in a similar manner.

Has anyone accomplished anything approaching the equivalent of "authenticating as the computer" as opposed to as the user on a Macintosh so that the system is automatically connected when the system is turned on?

If anyone can provide any guidance on how I can approach/accomplish this task I would be very grateful!

Thanks!

Chuck

Sorry it took so long to get back to this.

Thanks. You have to add it as a System Profile.

Apple changed the interface for the 802.1x in 10.5.4 and never updated their documentation, I am told by one of the Mac Geniuses that updated documentation is immenent...

We wound up using the Login Window Profile and it accomplises what we wanted... but each user autheticates to Wireless using their own credentials.
