Question : Problem: Help needed with a creative inspire 6.1 6700 speaker system with a 5.1 sound card 500 pnts

We are trying to setup a creative inspire 6.1 6700 speaker system with a 5.1 sound card.

I we don't have any instructions - where do we plug all the wires ?

1.) the speaker plug into the sub woofer but where does the sub woofer plug into the sound card ?

It will depend on the individual make of card but as a general rule on an AC'97 card all three sockets are used as 5.1 outputs.

Rear left and right speakers connect to Line In
Front left and right speaker connect to Speaker/Headphnoe
Center and subwoofer connect to Microphone

These options are usually switchable using the drivers provided.

But you have a 6.1 speaker system - you won't get separate rear centre sound using this arrangement (it will emulate the front center - you really should consider a 6.1 card if you want to get the best out of it (particularly positional sound for gaming!) despite Creative selling the 6.1 system as being fine for 5.1 cards (well they would say that wouldn't they!)
