Question : Problem: Direct hookup -  Playstation to Monitor

I have a 19 inch widescreen Lcd monitor and I want to use it for playing console games. LIke Playstation games.  I want to hook up the Playstation directly to the monitor without going through the PC.  I know there are some monitors that have ports to plug in other  sources of media besides VGA and DVI.

I searched around and found T.V. tuner cards that have imputs for those Composite connectors. But those cards can get expensive so I thats second choice for me.  So I found these adapers from Composite (video, left n right sound wires) TO DVI or VGA.

I was wondering does those adapters actually work with direct hookup from Playstaion to LCD without going through the PC?  http://shop.ati.com/product.asp?sku=2537967

Will it display?  becouse I'm afraid there wont be a signal if I hook it up directly.

in case you are wondering,  my monitor only has DVI and VGA inputs only.

Answer : Problem: Direct hookup -  Playstation to Monitor

I don't think that PS2 has component as a default.  I think the default is rca.

If you have rca to vga

If you have component to DVI,

RCA and component look the same but do not act the same.  The technology is different internally.
