Question : Problem: Netbackup 5.1 and prebackup script?

In several backup products I have the possibility to run a batch script at the beginning and after completion of backup procedure, f.e. used as a prebackup script which stops a service before backing up and after that restarts it.

Maybe I am blind, but I could not find any similar option in symantec (ex veritas) netbackup v5.1.

Somebody with an idea? Would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Answer : Problem: Netbackup 5.1 and prebackup script?

If I understand your question correctly this should work.

Use the bpstart_notifyand bpend_notifyscripts found in /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/goodies. (It's bpstart_notify.bat and bpend_notify.bat on Windows.)

Copy them into the /usr/openv/netbackup/bin directory (or \Veritas\NetBackup\binon Windows, and add the commands you want to run in the appropriate places in the script. You may customize the scripts to the class and schedule level by naming them bpstart_[name>[edulename>]]if you desire.
