Question : Problem: new laptop not working with old printer

i was trying to install my HP Photosmart 1115 printer (three years old) onto my new (4 Month old) HP laptop the error came up that I needed a device driver software. Generic IEEE 1284.4 printing support . I do have the original disk for printer . the laptop is not recogizing the new device. and now it will not unistall the components left behind because it says not responding even after attemting to uninstall for 10 minutes.

We are sorry to inform you that there will be no Windows Vista printer driver available for your HP product. Therefore your product will not work with Windows Vista.
If you are using the Windows Vista operating system on your computer, please consider upgrading to a newer HP product that is supported on Windows Vista.

This is happening a lot with older printers, especially the low-cost ones. Considering what you pay for them, it is not considered worthwhile to spend money on developing new drivers.
