Question : Problem: Is Macbook Pro good enough for ASP.Net Development?

I am planning to buy a 15.4 notebook. I need one which is really good in performance and as light as possible. After searching a lot, the best I can get is Macbook Pro. Since I do ASP.Net development as part of my work (apart from other apps like Flash, Flex, Dreamweaver, etc which are fine on a Mac) I need it to perform well in a virtualised environment with VMware Fusion. Does anyone have any experience on this and can share it?

I am not a mac user and this will be my first Mac.

Thanks in advance.

Answer : Problem: Is Macbook Pro good enough for ASP.Net Development?

gregoryyoung - I use Parallels with Win XP Pro SP2 .. Visual Studio & SQL Server .. works very well.

I am not a heavy-heavy user .. for this I'd recommend doing the following

1. Install XP on the MacBook Pro in a BootCamp partition.
2. When you need maximum performance you can boot the Mac in Win XP exclusively and get the performance of a top spec laptop.
3. When mixing OSX and Windows you can use Parallels (or VMWare Fusion) to load the same BootCamp partition inside OSX and work on it. Performance will be in the 80-90% of range.

I recommend Parallels over VMWare (you may want to read some comparisons for your requirements - seems Fusion is better for gaming and Parallels is better for networking and bootcamp compatibility)
