Question : Problem: User Replaced Notebook Screen, Now Resolution is Degraded

Hi, I've got a user that recently replaced his computer screen.  His system is a HP Pavilion dv8000 series computer, running an Intel Centrino Duo processor.  His screen began to act up a while back and he chose to order another, similar computer.  It's the same series, but it is an older version with an AMD processor.

He took the screen from the older system and replaced the faulty one.  It works, but the graphics look distorted slightly, as though they are pixelated and grainy.  His resolution is 1400 x 900, refresh of 60, on highest color settings.  The resolution was fine when the screen was on the original system.

Is there some way he can correct this, via drivers or setting adjustments, or is he simply doomed to that sort of picture unless he orders another replacement screen?
