Question : Problem: HP LaserJet 4000t Tray 3 Not Acknowledged via Windows XP

I just installed a used HP LaserJet 4000t printer to our network, and cannot get Windows XP to recognize Tray 3 on the printer.  The configuration page from the printer indicates that Tray 3 is installed, and contains legal paper, however when I attempt to select Tray 3 from the printer properties from my conputer I get an error message that reads: Incompatible Print Settings...Tray 3 Not Installed.  However, when I physically remove Tray 3 from the printer the screen on the printer indicates that Tray 3 is Open and returns to ready as the tray is reinserted.  Can anyone tell me which button to push?

On your driver you need to go to the 'device setting' page and tell the driver which options are installed on your printer.
You should also be able to send the print to the printer as automatic and size legal. The printer should pick the proper tray.
