Question : Problem: VSS error: Writer Removable Storage Manager did not respond to a GatherWriterStatus call

Hi.

I receive th following error when i run a scheduled backup using Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery:

Event Type:      Error
Event Source:      VSS
Event Category:      None
Event ID:      12301
Date:            15/01/2009
Time:            0.49.34
User:            N/A
Computer:      Win2003_12
Description:
Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Writer Removable Storage Manager did not respond to a GatherWriterStatus call.

I receive this error at the beginning of the backup process but after the end of a batch file where Ntbackup runs a System State backup succesfully so i presume is something related to symantec product and not to a problem with VSS itself.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Bye
Andrea

Seems like you have a corrupt RSM database

follow the article below
I could not find the appropriate article for BESR but these should do the trick as the issue is with RSM and VSS writers and not with the BESR application.
NTbackup does not use VSS
