Question : Problem: iMac Intel Optical Drive not functioning...logic board?
Well last night I decided to replace the optical drive (superdrive) in my intel iMac Aluminum.
Bought a compatible replacement online which was verified to work with this iMac. After removing the glass screen, the aluminum shell and finally the monitor, I took out the old CD/DVD Superdrive and repalced it with the new compatible drive. put it all back together and this optical drive isnt working either. The only difference is this optical drive did eject the cd i pushed into the slot loading drive, when i rebooted the iMac. I decided since this new drive wasnt working either, I put the original superdrive from apple, back in the imac.
Question is..Is there something on the logic board that is keeping the cd/dvd drive from working?
Please help. this drive was $90. dont want to spend more money withouth knowing the cause. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Anything can go bad. If replacing the cable fixed it, though, it sounds like the problem was the cable, not the drive.
