Question : Problem: Beautiful pictures on my big monitor but look like trash elsewhere !

I have a brand new 24" Gateway LCD monitor (FHD2400) & a Gateway tower model GT5662. I've been able to produce beautiful pictures from my Canon 10D and  Canon Rebel XTi. I shoot only raw format and use either Photoshop CS2 or Bibble.Labs to "process" my raw files. My operating system on this computer is Vista Home Premium. All other computers are XP professional and my friends have anything from Win 2000 to XP home and professional.

The photos that I process look exceedingly brilliant and vibrant, also sharp. But when I cut them to a CD and view them on any of my 3 others computers or send them to friends I am shocked and appalled  that my beautiful photos have literally been turned into garbage. The picture look flat, lifeless, less sharp, faded, pale and generally awful.

The photos were taken with an sRGB setting and I've made sure all monitors have the same sRGB setting. I cannot vouch for what settings my friends have their monitors/laptops set.

The camera has only 2 available settings" sRGB and RGB - if I understand correctly the sRGB profile is about as generic as you can get.

I can live with just looking at my pictures on my 24" monitor but when I send a photo to a friend I'd like it to look better than something the cat drug in and then wouldn't have. A close friend of mine says that his $100 point and shoot digital camera's photos look better on his computer than my pictures.

My main other monitor is a 20" NEC 2070NX and is 10-12 months old. I also have a super rarely used Sceptre 17" monitor and a very old MAG LT-765. All are LCD monitors.

I'm a semi-retired (mostly retired) professional photographer with 48 years under my belt.

Any help & assistance will be greatly appreciated !!!

what you can do is try another resolution for the monitor.
