Question : Problem: Cisco Phone System

We are looking to purchase a phone system for our small fast growing business.  We are looking at the Cisco Phone System but didn’t understand everything that is needed so we could compare prices with other phone systems we are looking at.

What Cisco hardware/software is needed to connect to our phone lines coming from the phone company?
What Cisco hardware/software is needed to have an auto-attended and voice mail?

I understand the Cisco phone part and how it connects to the LAN network and the power that it provides but don’t understand what is needed for the backend.

What do you think the total cost would be for current capacity of 4 phone stations with near future of 8 phone stations?

Thanks in advance,
Andrew

Answer : Problem: Cisco Phone System

Totally agree with Mike. There is no point for a single small office to utilize the VoIP. Well, there might me some benefit - implementing a Cisco phone system from scratch is an excellent resume maker if you are seeking senior career opportunity.

Should you really want to go ahead:
- 3725 or above router
- Call Manager server
- Unity server (voicemail and auto attendant)
- Switch with VLAN and in-line power capability
- Maybe a FXS/FXO module for analog devices such as modem
