Question : Problem: Unable to Backup The Sharepoint Portal 2003 Server Farm, using Veritas Backup Exec Version 10 with the Sharepoint Agent. comes back saying access denied

Urgent problem here

We have 7 Server Called Portal01 to Portal07 running Variours Services

We are using Veritas Backup Exec Version 10 with the Open File, Remote Agent, SQL Agent and the Sharepoint 2003 Agent, also we downloaded the Service Pack 1 For Veritas and installed it, all the servers have had the open file and the remoter server Agent pushed out to them, that have been rebooted and the Service check to confirm it has started under the services.

Our Veritas Backup Software is on Portal02, The SQL Database is on Portal03 and the Portal05 is the Sharepoint Server

When we run the backup we get an error message and the Job Fails with the Below information

V-79-57344-33928     Access Denied

Access Denied to File \http://192.168.40.9/index DB 1 (Portal 5)

Can you help us solve this problem

You have to backup both IIS and the sharepoint databases. Much like exchange and IIS you often get errors if you just set veritas to backup the folders because some of the files are in use or permissions are denied. It's usually best to schedule a backup job of the database and IIS files.
