Question : Problem: Graphics card dead, new card restarts XP

ATI Radeon 9800XT has died on an XP PC.  Replacing with another card only allows Windows to part boot then restart again, even in safe mode.

How can I disable the boot process from looking for the old graphics card yet allow a boot using the new Radeon 9250? There are no onboard graphics on the Asus SK8N motherboard.

I'm an advanced user so any suggestion is welcome.

Thanks in advance

start windows with the F8 key pressed on start of the os. then start windows in "VGA-Mode" this shoul be possible because the grapic drivers so are not loaded. then rmove the old driver an restart windows
