Question : Problem: Possible to have to LCD monitors with 1 laptop?

One of my clients asked me a question today im not sure about, is it possible to have 2 LCD monitors plugged into a laptop.  For example a DELL Latitude hooked into a dock, the video out on the dock goes to one LCD and the port on the side of the laptop goes to another...
Possible, does it work well,  etc...?

Our CFO has one of these for his Latitude D630:

He has dual 19 inch monitors.  One uses the dock's DVI and the other uses the dock's VGA - 15 pin.

I know that works.
