Question : Problem: Backups to two servers

Hi. I have two backup exec servers at two different sites. I need to backup our serves to both backup servers, so we have a copy of our data at two different sites.

We want to do a full backup once a week and then differentials the rest of the week.

If I set each server to do this then I figure we will not end up with two full copies of the data at each site as once one backup server has run the full backups it will reset the archive bit and so the other server will not backup those files.

How can I set this up? We are backing up to disk.

Thanks.

Answer : Problem: Backups to two servers

Imports shouldn't take that long. Running the backup itself would take longer. Also backup files are pretty large and copying large files over the WAN is more effective than copying many small files. Just make sure the copy is done at hours when the system isn't under much load. Another thing is that you probably don't normally need to restore your backup from both servers, the "Backup of the backup" Server would only come into play when really needed, and at normal times you'd use your main backup server for doing restores.

Using backupexec through the WAN itself would take a lot of bandwidth, It's better to run the backup locally then just copy the backed up data to the off-site places.
