Question : Problem: Can't get PCMCIA to work
|
|
I reformatted the hard drive on my laptop. I can't re-load the operating system because the PCMCIA card is not recognized thus making my external CD-ROM useless. The PCMCIA card I have is:
Ricoh R/RL/RT/RC/5C475(II),R5C520
I assume that I need to load drivers. I found one on the web but when I tried to run it in DOS I recieved a message back that said "Cannot be run in DOS mode"
Can anyone help?

yes you'll need drivers for the pcmcia card & cd-rom device...however after searching with google I believe this: Ricoh R/RL/RT/RC/5C475(II),R5C520 refers to a cardbus CONTROLLER not the PCMCIA card...some cardbus controllers must run in 'dos/16-bit' (as opposed to 32-bit) mode (set in bios) or may already work (like pci in normal desktops) in dos. Give me the manufracturer/model of the cd-rom drive an I will try to dig up the correct dos driver...
