Question : Problem: What are you suggestions for a new CAD workstation?

I need to build a new CAD workstation for my boss. We using Solidworks 2009, and have several very large assemblies that we need to work with. I am looking for you suggestions and critiques on the system I have came up with. I realize some of the components I have picked out are new technology and therefore, we will pay a premium. I am looking to build a screaming and very stable system for him, money is (as it always is) an issue - but we have spent about 4k on workstations in the past, so that is my target.

What im looking at:

GPU -  Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition 965 Nehalem 3.2GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80601965

RAM - CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1600C8D

PSU - CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply

VIDEO CARD -  (2X - SLI CONFIGURED) PNY VCQFX3700-PCIE-PB Quadro FX3700 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Supported Workstation Video Card

HARD DRIVE - (2X - RAID 0 CONFIGURED) Intel® X25-E Extreme High Performance Solid State Disk (SSD) - 32GB, SLC flash technology, 2.5 form factor, SATA (3.0Gb/s)

MOTHERBOARD - ASUS P6T Deluxe LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard

CASE -  Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

I realize I am missing a few components, but the majority is here.

Thoughts, suggestions? - The expert with the most usefull suggestions and insight will be rewarded the points.

Answer : Problem: What are you suggestions for a new CAD workstation?

I can't say I've seen benchmarks of CAD SLI configurations - is that something really recent?  The FX4800 is basically the same as the FX5600 http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Nvidia-Quadro-FX-4800,6654.html, and the FX5600 is a pretty strong performer http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/workstation-graphics-charts/SPECapc-Solidworks-2007-Graphics,124.html.

PC Power & Cooling power supplies have a single +12v rail, which means the current is not limited to 20a like most other manufacturers.  They are well-known as a high efficiency supply made with quality parts and a 5 year warranty.

For SSD limited cycles, there is an article on how to calculate that: http://www.storagesearch.com/siliconsys-art1.html.  I think that the problem is disappearing, but not all brands are the same.

I also noticed 6GB of RAM; you will need a 64-bit OS to access all of it and so you should check if the applications will run on it.
