Question : Problem: Outlook over VPN hangs/slow in preview pane on emails with attachments

Hello- here at our office we just set up a VPN connection.  We are running an exchange server with windows server 2003 on it and outlook 2003 clients.  When i'm at home using Outlook client over our VPN with Exchange, and i click on an email with an attachment, it hangs for 20-30 seconds before finally showing the message in the "preview pane" aka "reading pane".  I'm not OPENING the attachment, i'm just highlighting the message in the message list, but it acts like it's downloading the attachment when i do this.

Answer : Problem: Outlook over VPN hangs/slow in preview pane on emails with attachments

This is because the mime decoding is done by Outlook and not by Exchange... that is, that it doesn't know that it's an attachment and not embedded or another part of the email till it's pulled the entire email.
