Question : Problem: IDE Tape drive compression

A couple of years ago I read some articles (I think MS KB) about hardware compression with IDE tapes was not supported only SCSI

Can any one give me a reference for these articles please

Answer : Problem: IDE Tape drive compression

It is my understanding that the tape drives made in recient history are made with hardware compression and the ability to enable or disable it at the hardware level is no longer available adn they let the application control it.

So it is possible that Microsoft could have had a version of Windows that kept compression disabled for IDE tape drives. I just don't ever remember coming across such a thing.
