Question : Problem: MSA 1000 controller

I have msa1000 san storage that is already connected to a server with win2000 with secure path software installed for multipathing . I am setting up new server with win2003, after I connected cables to the fiber cards, under the device manager, under other devices, I see "Compaq MSA fabric SW 6 SCSI Enclosure Device" with a ? next to it. Also in Array configuration utility I see one controller status is 'standby' the other is 'failed redundancy path'.
What am I missing here?  Shoud I download MPIO software on the new server? Please help

Answer : Problem: MSA 1000 controller

Sounds like the ACU can only see the MSA through one path, I would disconnect each one in turn and see if it can see it both ways.

If you've only got one host on the SAN at the moment can you also check that Selctive Storage Presentation is on. If it's off do not turn it on with the system live, it's likely it will disconnect the host.

show tech support on the MSA will show all the WWPNs and you can check both of the ones for the new server are listed.
