Question : Problem: BES upgrade from v4.0.7 MR2 (Rollup) (Bundle 38) to v4.1 Service Pack 6

Hello Everybody,

Were planning to upgrade our BES from v4.0.7 MR2 (Rollup) (Bundle 38) to v4.1 Service Pack 6. We currently have ~ 70 BB (mostly 8310 and a few 8300 with v4.2.2 OS)

Im following the BES 4.1 Service Pack 6 Upgrade Guide from:
http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/8067/645045/7963/7965/1180408/Upgrade_Guide.pdf?nodeid=1442742&vernum=0

Upgrade option:
- Upgrading the BlackBerry Enterprise Server software by overwriting the existing version

Our environment:
- Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition
- Microsoft Exchange 2003 & System Manager
- Microsoft SQL Server 2000
* We are already running v4.0.7

Steps (part # refers to Upgrade Guide):

1. Skipping part 3: Preparing to upgrade from BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.0.
*** We are doing a complete server backup.

2. Perform part 8: Upgrading the BlackBerry Enterprise Server software by overwriting the existing version

Here is what I would like to know:
Q1: Is BES v4.1 Service Pack 6 stable? Should we go to 4.1 Service Pack 5 instead?
Q2: Is there a more complete guide out there?
Q3: Are there any problems we should anticipate during the upgrade?

Thank you.

SP6 is stable. the differences between SP6 and SP5 were actually pretty minor, but i still recommend straight to SP6. There is  MR out too.. throw that on.

That is the best guide.

There shouldnt be any problems. RIM is pretty good on their upgrade packages in regards to service packs.

If you do run into problems though... make sure your logging is at least level 4, and feel free to post!
