Question : Problem: Problems running Server 2008 TS in 2000 Environment
Our setup
DC running Server 2000
-TS Licensing installed
TS running Server 2008
-TS Licensing installed for testing
I was unable to get the 2000 box to issue 2008 TS Licenses due to Error:
-- "License server 2000dc.domain.local cannot issue TS CALs to the terminal server because of a version incompatibility."
-- Suggested Resolution: 'Check that the version of the license server supports issuing TS CALs to the terminal server. The license server must be running the same (or a more recent) version of the operating system as the terminal server. You might need to upgrade your license server to an appropriate operating system or install a new license server with the appropriate operating system.'
I was unable to get the 2008 TS to issue licenses to itself either, due to there being no Terminal Services Licensing Servers security group.
Is there a way to get this working?
Answer : Problem: Problems running Server 2008 TS in 2000 Environment
Remove the TS Cals form the 2000 server and implement TS licensing on a 2008 server.
We had this issue on a 2003 licensing server.
