Question : Problem: what should I do about a damaged locking clip for Averatec 3200 laptop?
Hi Everyone;
Upon disassembly of an Averatec 3200 laptop, I noticed what appears to be a locking clip for the ribbon which connects the keyboard to the motherboard is damaged. Basically, the small, white, plastic, piece is about 1.5 inches across and has two tiny legs, one on each side. Upon visual inspection of this part, I noticed on of the two legs is broken off. It seems to still connect in fine, but, I am wondering if it will pose a problem when reconnecting the keyboard.
Any shared input to this question will be appreciated.
Thank you.
George

It all depends whether one of the legs will apply enough pressure to close the circuit. Should be OK, if it holds up to gentle assertion of pressure, but very hard to say without getting a feel!
