Question : Problem: Recover Data from Low Level Format

Hi Experts,

I recently accidentally formatted the wrong partition on my laptop.  Accidentally deleting stacks of data on that drive.

I have tried several different recovery programs to no avail.  They will recover the files, structure, directories, names etc.  But the files themselves are just garble.
Ie. a simple text file is recovered as )(!_)(*£("*% type return.

I have tried these programs:
1st NTFS Recovery
Stellar Phoenix NTFS Data Recovery
Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery
Quick Recovery
Recover Data for NTFS

The .zips are corrupt, the Word, Txt, jpg etc are all corrupt.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Answer : Problem: Recover Data from Low Level Format

I personally have had very good sucess with a recovery product called R-Studio. I have had 4 different situations where I had to recover data from formatted / failing / corrupted hard drives. One was a local disk that was formatted by the Geek Squad (whoops), one was a RAID 0 that got corrupted (R-Studio rebuilt the array, and then let me recover EVERYTHING. Amazing!) one time was data off of a Mac. The last one I couldn't recover. no matter how long is scanned the sectors, it locked up. So, I have had fairly good results. To try it, go to:

I love it.
