Question : Problem: Network Printers not available in Remote Desktop Connection

Hi experts,
     I have users connecting to a server through remote desktop connection.  The users would like their networked printers to be available while in the remote desktop connection.  I have the printers option checked under the local resources of the remote desktop options.  I also have downloaded the printer drivers onto the server computer.  Still, the users cannot see their networked printers when in a remote session.  How can I provide access to the networked printers from remote desktop connection?

You need to edit the registry on the client computers to allow redirection of printers attached to network ports.  Normal redirection only applies to printers attached to COM and LPT ports. Here's the registry value you need to change:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Terminal Server Client\Default\Addins\RDPDR

Value Name: FilterQueueType
Value type = REG_DWORD
Hex value: 0xffffffff
