Question : Problem: How can I adjust the focus of my HP Pavillion laptop's built-in webcam?

I am trying to use MediaMan, which is a piece of software that uses your webcam to read bar codes on DVDs and catalogue them.
The problem is that the built-in webcam is, naturally, somehow configured to focus on my face sitting at the laptop and to recognise barcodes it needs to focus at a much shorter distance - maybe 3" from the camera.  But I can't find the webcam in control panel anywhere or any means of controlling it to see if there is a way of adjusting the focus.
Any suggestions on how to do this?

hedgert - i have done a lot of work with barcodes and i am suspicous how well this software will work through your webcam. I was hoping you had an old webcam hanging around at home, or knew someone with one, so that you could test it prior to modifying your computers inbuilt unit. I hope it works for you ...... nodramas has indicated it should be possible to do via drivers so hopefully you can reverse it if necessary. Good luck .....
