Question : Problem: RAID - Promise or VIA?

I have an ASUS K8V Deluxe SE MB and i has both Promise and VIA SATA RAID... Is there an advantage of one over the other?

In my opinion, not really.  The reason that the Promise controller is onboard is because the VIA chipset only supports 2 SATA drives.  Both support RAID 0, 1, 0+1 and JBOD.  If you are using only 2 SATA drives, I would probably use the SATA conenctors for the VIA chipset.  Use the Promise if extending to drives 3 and 4
