Question : Problem: PC hang while plug-in USB thumbdrive

i'm running winXP Pro on AMD-K6, 64MB RAM
recently, i bought a USB 2.0 card (3 external port + 1 internal port). it's working fine with USB cable connected to printer and etc...

but, when i plug-in a Kingston 256MB 2.0 thumbdrive, it detected new hardware found but PC will hang within few seconds...

what could be the possible cause? it is not enough memory? how to fix it?

i bought the USB card mainly because i want to use it with the USB thumbdrive to transfer data but seems like it never works, hope someone could give some advices on how to fix it. thanks in advance

Answer : Problem: PC hang while plug-in USB thumbdrive

First things, first: Get more RAM for that computer! :)

Seriously, that very well could be your problem. I had a workstation that locked up everytime I inserted a Lexar USB drive. I reloaded the OS, upgraded from Win98 to 2000 to XP. No luck. Wiped it and re-installed 2000. No luck. Added more RAM (went from 64MB to 256MB) and it worked. This was on a PIII-500MHz machine...
