Question : Problem: Black screen using VNC on Leopard across VPN or to different network segment
|
|
I have an Apple at home that has Leopard on it. I am using the built-in VPN software to connect to my office network. I am attempting to use built-in VNC to access shares on my servers. I can connect OK, but after the connection is done, the screen I have, which should be displaying the Windows server desktop is black. I can take that same Mac to my office and I can VNC to the same servers there and it works perfectly. If I am on my corporate network and attempt to VNC to a computer that is on a different segment I Have the same problem. VNC works just fine in all of these scenarios from a Windows-based PC.
BTW, I have an old slot loading iMac at home and I can VPN into my network and run Chicken of the VNC from it to my company servers and that works just fine.
Any thoughts?

Well, I personally think it's just the suckyness of AppleVNC that's making it slower.
But yeah, other than trying that other client, that's about it.
