Question : Problem: More USB Hard Drive Trouble - Unable To Write?

I recently bought a PCMCIA USB2.0 Cardbus for my USB2.0 Hard Drive...

It shows up in the Device Manager as working properly, and appears in Explorer as well.

Whenever I try to write to the drive, I get a BSOD with 'Unable to write to drive' or something similar.

I am running Windows ME with 320MB of RAM in a 1.1GHz Celeron laptop.

The drive still works fine in my USB1.1 hub... Also the USB2.0 Card works fine as I successfully tried my webcam in both slots.

Thanks a lot, cheers,

Chris.

Answer : Problem: More USB Hard Drive Trouble - Unable To Write?

Are you running external power for the hard drive. I know that my PCMCIA USB controller will not power either of my external 2.5 HDDs. I did  manage to build a keyboard power adapter to power the drives.
Does the drive seem like it is slow starting up? or does it make clicking sounds instead?  Either of these symptoms is an indication of not enough power (amps) getting to the drive.
